Introduction:

Small shrub grows up to 2 to 4 feet in height, found all over India. Small rounded green leaves, Flowers are yellow, purple blue in colour, Fruits are compressed containing seeds, small black kidney shaped and with stringent odour known as Bavchi. All parts of this plant and oil from seeds is used in Ayurveda. Seeds powder and oil is used to cure Vitiligo, leprosy, leukoderma, and other skin disorders.

Uses:

  1. Seeds of plant and oil from seeds are useful in the treatment of many skin diseases like vitiligo/leukoderma, leprosy, ringworm etc. Given internally in powder form and applied externally as paste or as ointment using seeds oil. White spots turn red after few days of treatment.
  2. Seeds powder is useful on respiratory disorders like bronchitis, asthma etc.
  3. It has anti-aging property and is used to rejuvenate skin and hair growth.
  4. Seeds powder is useful to treat constipation, bloating, acidity, and diarrhoea. It acts as an appetizer, kills intestinal worms.
  5. Root powder/extract is useful to treat dental carries.
  6. Powder is useful in treating osteoporosis and bone related issues.

Caution:

Seeds powder and oil are very strong and have a stringent smell. Oil and paste to be applied in diluted form only to avoid rashes and allergies on the skin.
