Introduction:

Shrub grows up to 8-10 feet in height and found all over India. Many varieties are found having white, red, orange etc. flowers. The Plant with white flowers is more beneficial. Leaves are dark green with toothed margins. Hibiscus flowers and leaves promote hair growth hence used in preparations of hair oil, hair soap and shampoo etc. Flowers and leaves are mainly used for medicinal purposes. Flowers are offered to lord Vishnu.

Uses:

  1. Flowers are used to promote hair growth and shine. Hair oil/ Juice of flowers is used in hair fall, thin hair, baldness, dandruff and to prevent premature grey hair.
  2. Juice of flowers/roots is given with cow milk to treat many gynecological disorders like excessive/irregular menstrual bleeding etc.
  3. Powder of flowers is given with butter milk to treat bleeding piles.
  4. Juice of flower applied on skin gives a soothing and moisturizing effect.
  5. Juice of leaves is given with sharkara (Sugar) to treat bloating and acidity.
  6. Tea prepared from flowers adding sugar may help in weight management, urinary tract/ kidney problems, regulate excess heat in body and control pitta.
