Introduction:

It is a wild plant found in forests of India, grows up to 2-3 feet in height. On stem, 3-4 green leaves are found. Leaves are 3 to 7 inch long and 1 to 2 inch broad. During March to May white and purple flowers are found. Fruits are red/brown in colour and size is similar to peas. Roots are thick, tuberous having fissures on it. Root and leaves powder is used in Ayurveda.

Uses:

1. Root powder is applied on snake, scorpion and rat bites to detoxify poison.

2. Root powder is used to lower and manage high Blood Pressure.

3. Root powder is used in treatment of insomnia, Calms down the nervous system hence used in mental disorders like epilepsy, insanity etc.

4. Root powder is prescribed in indigestion, constipation, bloating, and stomach pain, also useful to remove intestinal worms.

5. Decoction is given to cure dysentery.

6. Root powder is used to treat gynecological disorders like, Dysmenorrhea, uterine pain etc.

7. Root powder is used to reduce fever.

Not recommended to use during pregnancy and lactation period.

Over dose to be avoided. To be taken under supervision of experienced Vaidya.

Not to be taken for long.
