Introduction:

Plant is erect, grows up to 60-120 cm in height with many branches. Long and broad leaves, small leaves on top. Flowers are greenish yellow with purple tint. Sharp pointed fruits having many small seeds.

Root and Panchang of the plant is used in medicines in powder form or as decoction. Chirayata is very bitter herb, mainly used in skin diseases, fever, cough, swellings etc.

Uses:

Powder/Decoction of root and Panchang is used.

1. Useful in Skin disorders and as blood purifier.

2. Given for relief in fever, Cough etc. Useful in Asthma. Boosts immunity.

3. Useful in liver disorders, jaundice and anemia.

4. Used for healing of wounds, relief in itching and in bleeding piles.

5. Useful in gastric disorders and as appetizer.

6. Useful to remove abdominal worms.

7. Useful to increase milk in lactating mothers.

8. Given for relief in swellings and inflammation.
