RADISH

Introduction:

      Radish looks like carrot, has many varieties, white, red or pink in colour and small to big in size. The bulb/ root grows below the earth having fast-growing green leaves, containing lots of water. Flowers are small white; bears pod small green in colour. The seeds are small and brownish in colour. Grows up to 1 to 2 feet in height. Bulb, flowers, fruits and seeds are used in ayurveda. In Indian kitchens, radish is part of many dishes as vegetable.

Uses:

  1. Boil seeds of radish till water is reduced to half. Give this decoction for removal of urinary stones. Juice of green leaves of radish is also useful for removal of urinary stones.
  2. Radish is diuretic that acts as detox, helping kidneys in its cleansing function.
  3. Cut radish into small pieces, sprinkle salt and mix it well, eat the pieces to cure indigestion.
  4. Radish juice is useful for hemorrhoids, constipation and flatulence, acts as natural laxative.
  5. Radish is useful to rejuvenate body cells, for healthy skin, hair and nails. Paste of leaves and root is applied externally.
  6. Radish is pungent in taste, it clears the lungs and nasal decongestion.
