APARAJITA

Introduction:

It is a beautiful creeper plant. Green leaves are like rat’s ear. Flower shape is similar to cow’s ear or conch shell hence called Gokarni. Flower colour is Blue, also white colour variety is available. Mainly used as brain tonic. Used for religious offering as well. All parts of plant are used in Ayurveda. In some parts of India it is given as Shankhpushpi.

Uses:

1. Tea prepared from flowers is used to boost immunity. Also useful on inflammation of joints, headache, skin diseases and indigestion.

2. Root, seeds and leaves powder is used as brain tonic.

3. Decoction of root is given for menstruation and gynecological disorders.

4. External paste of root powder is useful on skin diseases and inflammation.

5. Root paste is applied to parts having leukoderma for relief.

6. Decoction is useful in improving voice quality and to clear throat.

7. Decoction is used to relieve bleeding piles.

8. Given to strengthen cardiovascular and respiratory system.
