Introduction:

Hadjod is a creeper plant found throughout the year. The plant has quadrangular fleshy stems resembling to bones and joints. Leaves are tiny with sectioned branches. Flowers are small white-green, bears fruits which gets red colour on ripening. Entire plant has green colour. Stems are used for strengthening bones. Fresh juice, powdered stems and ashes of stems are used in treatment.

Uses:

1. Paste of green stems or powder may be applied on broken bones, accelerates healing of fractured bones. Stem juice is also given internally in treatment of broken bones.

2. Powder of stem is useful in arthritis, Osteoporosis, gout etc. Reduces swellings, relieves pain. Externally, stem processed in sesame oil is also useful

3. Stem juice is given for treatment of piles and bleeding from nose.

4. Useful in Digestive disorders, used as appetizer, relieves constipation.

5. Useful in Asthma.

6. Paste of stem is useful on wounds.

7. Useful in obesity for weight loss
