Introduction:

The plant is found throughout India mostly in rainy season. Grows 3 to 5 feet in height. Leaves are heart shaped similar to Tulsi. Bears yellowish flowers. Pods are small having seeds. Seeds are grayish Black and smooth. These seeds are useful to provide strength hence used in various Indian preparations. Leaves and seeds are smooth (Snigdha) while eating. All parts of the plant are used in ayurvedic preparations.

There are many varieties of Bala but Sida Cordifolia, Sida Carpinifolia and Sida Rhombifolia are mostly used. They have similar medicinal values and are used in absence of other.

Uses:

1. Provides nourishment and strength to body, Improves immunity. Useful in general debility. Seeds powder is used in various Indian dishes.

2. Reduces inflammation, oil is used to relive pain in arthritis, joint problems, spondylitis and paralysis. Improves strength of bones and muscles.

3. Useful in Cough Cold, chest congestion, bronchitis and Asthma.

4. Useful to treat Boils and wounds

5. Useful in Heart problems, used as Cardiac tonic.

6. Used in Male and female infertility.

7. Useful in urinary problems as diuretic.

8. Useful in fat burning and weight loss.
