CHYAVANPRASHAVALEH
- INTRODUCTION:
Chyawanprashawaleh follows the 2,000 year old recipe from the Charaka Samhita. Treated as ultimate tonic known as rasayana because it is powerhouse of rasa as well as other dhatus. Rasa is the pure nutrient part of food and is one of the dhatus that leads, to the generation of other dhatus. Dhatus are components that support both the structure and functions of the body; there are 7 dhatus, rasa, blood, flesh, bone, fat, shukra and marrow. Rasayana is a tonic for the whole body and beneficial for nearly all diseases, but especially for disorders of aging, cough and asthama. By administration of rasayana one obtains longevity of life, memory, apprehension, health, youth, brightness in complexion, excellence of voice, great strength of body and the senses. Rasayana are also said to dispel drowsiness and fatigue, preserve the harmony of the three doshas – vat, pitta and kapha. Chyavanprash is named after Risi Chyawan who had become very old, but became youthful by taking this preparation.
